Summer for us is coming to an end. Next week the kids go back to school. With this date racing toward us, the last few weekends we’ve tried to fill them with activities and travel. Last weekend we traveled 5 hours north for our annual family reunion. As a matter of fact, it was the 41st addition of our family getting together each year. I think it’s so cool that a family would continue this tradition for such an extended period of time. The family has survived divorces, celebrated births and mourned together during death, but inspite of it’s challenges nothing detours them from getting together each year on the first weekend of August.
I hope that our family (wife and girls) build traditions that last and our family keeps it’s closeness. Tam and I occasionally talk about life with son-n-laws and grandchildren and our responses now if we want to maintain a close family when our children are older. There’s nothing that can replace a close family.
