Ask the Readers: Twitter and Jaiku Posts

June 26, 2007 · View Comments

It’s time to “ask the readers” for your thoughts. For the past month or so I’ve included a list of my “tweets” and Jaiku posts from the day before. Usually the posts include my thoughts, links and at times a update of my daily activities. However, recently I’ve been curious to know how effective these posts are and do you find any benefit in them? I realized when I see these types of posts from other blogs I skip over them to the next feed. I imagine if I do this my readers probably do the same. This is where you can be of great assistance to me.

Here is how you can help. Leave a comment let me know…

1. Do you benefit from these posts?

2. Should I continue to add them to this blog?

3. What type of content would you rather see?

Thank you in advance for your input and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi David.
To be honest, I skip over the Twitter and Jaiku summaries, although in my case it’s usually because I’ve already received them on my phone.
The exception — I review someone’s Twitter summary if they happen to have live-blogged an event and I wanted to look at what was posted.
I like how Bryan Person handles this — he removed his summaries from his main blog page and from his RSS feed but they’re still on his blog somewhere accessible. I don’t know if it’s possible to do the same thing on Typepad, though. See http://www.bryper.com/2007/06/04/how-to-find-my-daily-tweets-on-this-blog/

David:
I did this through a WordPress plugin. Like mdy, I don’t know if this can be done on Typepad.
I found that I was always skipping over others’ del.icio.us and Twitter links on their blogs, so I figured my readers were doing the same on Bryper.com
This solution works perfectly for me — and hopefully the reader as well.
