I’m constantly encouraged and energized by individuals who see their dream become a reality. People who have overcome mishaps and struggles to see their life-long dreams fulfilled, always adds fuel to my own ambitions and dreams. This week, while watching the Today Show I encountered another unbelievable individual who stoked the fires of my own dreams. That person is Paul Potts.
Paul Potts came out of nowhere and won Britain’s version of American Idol, Britain’s Got Talent. Paul, a mobile phone salesman, average appearance and crooked teeth, yet underneath everything that looks average there’s a tenor voice that will blow your mind. Are you amazed? I was! How can anyone not cheer for this guy. I’m sure as you watched Paul with his sheepish smile and posture that doesn’t speak of confidence, there were streams of emotion that swelled up within you. You can’t help but believe that growing up all the challenges and struggles he’s endured, but a persistent dream was bigger than people’s opinions. I’m sure that no one imagined that hidden within a mobile phone salesman was the talent of a polished opera singer.
Now it comes to me and you. I’m sure you have challenges. I can guarantee that when you share your dreams with some individuals that they refuse to get on the band wagon and celebrate you. I wouldn’t be surprised that at times confidence can be shaky. I know for a fact that if you’ve held on to this dream for a long period of time, you’ve wondered if you’ll ever get your chance or break. Is this you? I can relate!
