In the last two weeks it’s been extremely hot in my part of the world. Daily, there have been new records set, with heat indexes that are bringing many outdoor activities to a standstill. In some areas lives have been lost due to not being prepared for this type of heat. We’ve also seen power outages due to the extreme demand put on the electric system. Public pools were packed, fans and air conditioners were at maximum demand.
However, this afternoon it all changed. In less than thirty minutes a major thunderstorm came through. Within two hours the temperature that yesterday set records at 104°F felll to a wonderful 71°F. The cooler tempature has been welcomed with open arms.
In life, lessons can be learned from anywhere. If you look hard enough, you can learn something from everything and everyone. Here are the lessons I learned today while watching a summer thunderstorm.
Be Flexible – Things Can Change Suddenly
Individuals that accomplish their goals and live their dreams, are individuals that can be flexible. Learning to make adjustments on the fly is a trait that separates leaders from followers.
Don’t Be Distracted By All the Noise
Digital noise, noise from peers, noise, noise, noise it’s everywhere. Distractions are always there to trip you up from achieving goals. Being able to rise above the distractions can determine whether your a doer or just a dreamer.
Things Are Not as They Appear
The hardest thing to grasp is that everything is not as it appears. Often times when we think we have things figured out in reality we only see from one side. The challenge is to able to see the big picture and make quick decisions. Being able to see that thing often times are not as bad as you may think and some times things are not as good as you may imagine.
I’m always amazed at the lessons you can learned when you don’t expect it. What lessons have you learned today? How will you implement them?
