The secret to maximizing your creative initatives is through collaboration. I’ve heard Jason Falls of Social Media Explorer say more than once, that “we” is always more effective than “me.” The creative minds that you can introduce to your project can elevate the potential for success.
When you work and live in an arena that requires you to develop strategies and creative executions, the chance of hitting a home run every time are rare. However, being able to collaborate with other creative thinkers, may not guarantee you a home run, but a triple and three RBI’s isn’t bad either. It also exposes you to other ideas, thoughts, experiences and viewpoints. Collaboration is a multidimensional approach to strategic and creative development.
I would like to say that some of my best ideas came from me spending long nights lock up in a cabin somewhere, but that’s not the case. While I may have been the originator of the idea, they all have been tweaked and modified by a group of collaborators. The ability to include fresh perspective and feedback has definitely been a positive effect to many of my projects.
The actual projects to include a collaboration team are endless. They range from book writing to marketing strategies. Anywhere you need an effective execution element you should be open to a collaborative approach.
Thanks to the digital space, there are tools to make this strategy work. Tools such as Google Wave, Google Docs and Basecamp are just a few that you can use as your digital collaboration room. The ability to work on a project from multiple locations has never been easier. The benefits of more eyeballs and insight into your project outweigh the lone ranger approach any time.
Next time you’re thinking about launching a project, call upon your team of collaborators. If you don’t have a team, start assembling them, they could be the secret sauce to your success.
What tools are you using and how is it helping you reach your goals?
