The Weekend Reader is posted every Sunday with my favorite eye-catching, inspiring, innovative and informative articles of the week.

How Foursquare is Changing Social Media Marketing : “Foursquare embodies the shift from our immobile computer to mobile Internet. Consumers are connected all the time. Twitter began the mobile trend and foursquare is continuing it. Since more consumers are using the mobile social web, brands are able to connect with consumers within their stores. Marketers can create incentives and contests to drive customers into a business.” [Samir Balwani]

Never Underestimate What People Get Excited About : “When you really engage and participate in your customers lives, you can begin to understand what makes them tick. And even better for you, is understanding what they are passionate about. But you have to look at it from their perspective. It’s not about how THEY fit into your marketing plan. It’s about how YOU fit into their lives. It’s about reframing the conversation.” [Brains of Fire]

Why Coca-Cola Says Their True Homepage Is Not Coke.com : “When it comes to search marketing and Internet marketing historically there has been a heavy concentration on the home page. Elements that are obsessed over are the content, the look, the feel, the navigation, the calls to action and so much more. [Small Business Hub]

50 Ways to Make Limencello When You’ve Been Laid Off : “Many make the mistake of looking to others to find the answers. As long as you do that, as long as you depend on others to define you, as long as you wait for the job to tell you who you are, you’re not going to be free to become that person. Many wait until the job is no longer there to start thinking about taking charge of their own career. [Conversation Agent]

Social Media Time Management – The Ebook : “Information overload is real, but it’s something that’s in your control. Managing your time in social media is first and foremost about deciding where to spend your time and why, and that requires a little bit of organization to start with. [Altitude Branding - Amber Naslund]

I especially like the Brains of Fire quote “It’s about how YOU fit into their lives. It’s about reframing the conversation.” I've had and continue to have the privilege of talking with many customers and indeed the best part of listening them tell their stories is understanding how they use and what they get from your product and service.

Thank you kindly for the highlight, David.
