What are You Communicating?

The hook to any experience is an engaging story. Brands like Disney, Maker’s Mark, and Apple have enhanced the consumers experience by mastering the art of storytelling.

A great story connects the individual to the story teller. A story can be told without ever speaking. However, it can also include voice, text, video and images. The hang-up should never be the medium. There are many brands and individuals telling stories using blogs, podcasts, video, images. The important factor is meeting the individual where they’re at and telling a story that generates a response.

Growing up my father was a fan of old silent movies. I would spend hours watching the likes of Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy. Without the performers ever speaking I still remember laughing uncontrollably at their humor.

The power of the story was their ability to provide an emotional hook. Their ability to create that hook, has caused me to be a fan of these classic comedians.

Creating Powerful Stories

Here is an idea that someone used to market real estate? They went beyond the normal MLS listing in a real estate book. They went farther than uploading photos to a web site. They gave you an opportunity to experience the property.

What story would you tell to enhance your brand or company? What are you communicating? What could you do to build a story that would engage your customers?
