Momentum isn’t something that you can predict. Neither is it something that you can plan with a detailed strategy document. Momentum isn’t controlled by time.
Momentum is the byproduct of doing the right things day after day.
It’s by your dedication of daily showing up, putting in the time and doing the basics, that one spark leads to another and those sparks lead to flames.
It’s what keeps the sales rep showing up everyday.
It’s why writers continue to master the art of words day after day.
It’s the force behind the athlete who keeps stepping to the plate even though he’s 0 for his last 25 plate appearances.
All they need is just a spark to get things moving in the right direction.
What are you building?
What are you doing daily?
What things have you committed to even though no one notices?
How willing are you to push yourself even when it appears there’s no results?
What friction are you creating with hopes it will become a flame?
Unfortunately, there are no quick tips to master momentum. The only thing we have are the stories of those that through their dedication and determination have finally broken through. From those stories we see a commitment to action, a commitment to blocking out the noise of the negative bystander and a willingness to persevere when it looks like nothing is happening.
Thomas Edison said it best, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Whatever you’re working towards is closer then it was yesterday. Don’t give up when you’re just about to encounter the thrust of momentum that you’ve been looking for.
Carry on!
