In a perfect world everything happens just like you imagined it would. You take an idea, hone your craft, practice daily, work your butt off, someone notices your hard work and then fame and fortune pours down like a spring thunderstorm.
If that’s how life was everything would be so simple and easy.
For you to be noticed among the masses just showing up doesn’t work; it never has and never will.
To get to the front of the pack it’s vital that you build the necessary support system to be seen and heard.
It’s Time to Raise Your Hand
If you’re going to get noticed, you’ll need to build a structure that elevates your voice and showcases your expertise.
To accomplish this task you’re going to need to establish these three components:
Build Your Platform
The first thing you’re going to need to do is develop a platform that houses and showcases your expertise. You need a place where anyone from anywhere at anytime can sample and consume what you bring to the table.
At the very least, you need to have a blog that you update on a frequent basis. This is your international headquarters that everyone will have access to discover you and your expertise.
If your platform is to elevate your expertise, it could include:
- A Blog
- A Video Channel on YouTube and Vimeo
- An Email Newsletter Used to Communicate to Your Community or Tribe
- A Podcast – A place to be heard for those that won’t consume reading line after line of text.
- Offline Speaking Engagements
Establish Your Voice
The next thing you’ll want to to is establish your voice. While there’s nothing wrong with emulating mentors and influencers, this is the time you want to establish who you are and what you bring to the table. If you sound like an echo, you’ll be passed over for someone that brings an original or different approach to the game.
The more you practice by publishing your thoughts and expertise the more comfortable you’ll become with your own voice.
Be different, Be OK with your slant of life, business and the world.
Promote Your Expertise
The biggest compliment that anyone can receive is when someone else promotes your work. However, sometimes you need to throw a few logs onto the fire… This is where social media comes into play.
Establish Engagement Streams on:
- Google +
- Niche Social Channels
Utilize these channels to communicate to the masses, share your expertise, engage your community, share relevant information and then introduce these communities to your platforms.
Opportunities never show up for those that sit in the background and wait. Opportunities present themselves when you stand up, raise your hand and let the world know you have something to say and give.
Time to get to work!
